Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026— named the operating entity (100 Founts Pty Ltd). Earlier in 2026: added Section 5: Automated Decision-Making & AI Features; Section 11: Data Sharing with Local Government; updated Section 7: Third-Party Services (added Firebase/FCM, Stadia Maps)

This Privacy Policy applies to the JOOVE platform ("Platform"), operated by 100 Founts Pty Ltd("we", "us", "our"). JOOVE™ is a trademark of 100 Founts Pty Ltd. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when using JOOVE:

  • Name, email address, and profile photo when you create an account
  • Authentication data from third-party providers (Google, Facebook, Apple) if used for sign-in
  • Photos, descriptions, and location pins you post on the Platform
  • Suburb and notification radius preferences you configure
  • Community votes and interactions (e.g., "I Took It", "Already Gone")
  • Payment information processed securely through Stripe (we do not store card details)

We also collect usage data automatically, including device type, browser information, IP address, and interaction patterns with the map and listings. This data is anonymised and used for analytics via PostHog.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Display your listings on the real-time map to other users
  • Send notifications about nearby items (based on your alert preferences)
  • Process subscription payments through Stripe
  • Run AI-powered item detection on your uploaded photos (Pro/Max)
  • Improve the Platform through anonymised analytics
  • Display council-specific regulation guidance based on post location
  • Communicate important service updates and security notices

3. Location Data & Physical Safety

JOOVE displays item locations on a public, interactive map. When you create a post, the exact pin location you set is visible to all users and visitors of the platform. You must exercise caution when dropping pins near your primary residence or private property. GPS auto-detect is available for convenience but is entirely optional — you can always manually set or adjust the pin location. By using JOOVE, you acknowledge the inherent risks of sharing physical locations publicly and assume all responsibility for your personal safety and property when coordinating pick-ups or sharing data.

4. AI Photo Processing

Photos uploaded by Pro and Max users are processed by our AI provider for item detection and categorisation. Photos are sent to the provider's API for processing and are subject to their data usage policies. We do not use your photos for training or any purpose beyond the specific item detection requested.

5. Automated Decision-Making & AI Features

In accordance with Australian Privacy Act requirements effective December 2026, we disclose the following automated processes that may affect your use of JOOVE:

  • Community voting automation:When a listing receives 3 or more "Already Gone" or "I Took It" votes, it is automatically marked as "Likely Taken" and deprioritised on the map. This is based purely on vote count — no personal data is used.
  • AI item detection (Pro/Max): Photos you upload are processed by AI to detect and categorise items. The output is a suggested item list that you review and edit before publishing. No automated decision is made without your confirmation.
  • Cifu AI chat assistant: Our in-app AI assistant (Cifu) uses your conversation messages and the current map context to generate responses. Conversations are not linked to your profile and are not used for training.
  • Local regulation guidance: Based on the geographic coordinates of your post pin, JOOVE automatically identifies the relevant Local Government Area (LGA) and displays council-specific kerbside rules. This is informational only and does not restrict your ability to post.
  • Notification radius matching: Push notifications are sent to users whose saved location falls within their configured alert radius. This matching is done server-side using your stored suburb/location preference.

None of the above processes make legally significant automated decisions about you. You may contact us at privacy@joove.app to request human review of any automated action affecting your account.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication via Supabase Auth, and Stripe PCI-compliant payment processing. Error monitoring is handled through Sentry. While we take every reasonable precaution, no method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure. To the maximum extent permitted by law, JOOVE is not liable for unauthorised access, data breaches, or third-party misuse of information you post on the Platform.

7. Third-Party Services

JOOVE uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

  • Supabase — Database, authentication, and real-time subscriptions (hosted in Sydney, Australia)
  • Stripe — Payment processing for subscriptions
  • AI processing provider — AI-powered item detection (Pro/Max photos only)
  • Firebase / Google FCM — Push notification delivery (device tokens stored; used only to send alerts you have opted into)
  • Stadia Maps — Map tile rendering (your IP address is transmitted to load map imagery)
  • Analytics provider — Anonymised product usage analytics
  • Error monitoring provider — Application error tracking (no personal data beyond IP)
  • Hosting provider — Web application hosting and deployment
  • AI chat processing provider — Processes messages sent to the in-app chat assistant. Conversations are not linked to your profile and are not retained for training.
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — Geocoding for post location detection

8. Your Rights

In accordance with Australian privacy legislation, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt-out of marketing communications and non-essential notifications
  • Withdraw consent for data processing at any time (which may limit Platform functionality)

9. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and local storage to maintain your session, remember your theme preference (light/dark), and store your authentication state. We use PostHog for analytics which may set tracking cookies. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

10. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Post data (listings, photos, votes) is retained indefinitely to maintain map history and environmental impact statistics. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days, but anonymised aggregate data (e.g., total items diverted) may be retained for reporting purposes.

11. Data Sharing with Local Government

JOOVE may share anonymised, aggregated data with Australian Local Government Areas (LGAs) and government bodies such as DCCEEW for sustainability reporting purposes. This is governed by Australian Privacy Principle 6 (APP 6).

  • What is shared: Pre-aggregated, de-identified statistics only — total items diverted, estimated CO₂ avoided, and activity counts per suburb or LGA. Never individual records, names, addresses, or photos.
  • Data Sharing Agreement: Any council accessing data through the JOOVE Council Dashboard must sign a DSA confirming the data will not be used to re-identify users and will be used solely for sustainability reporting.
  • Your opt-out: You may exclude your activity from government reports via Settings → Privacy. Because data is always pre-aggregated and anonymous before sharing, this is a compliance mechanism under APP 3 — it does not affect your use of JOOVE.

For questions about government data sharing, contact privacy@joove.app.
